About Christian Intensive Training (CIT)

CIT was orginally developed as an intense week of bible study for those serving on staff. So many past attendees have spirtually benefited from this week, that we are bringing it back for everyone for the first time in over 20 years! This week will consist of 5-6 hours of bible study, time spent with fellow believers enjoying all that Camp Horizon has to offer, and an opportunity to particpate in a service project at Camp. Anyone aged 15 years and older interested in learning more about God's word and developing life long camp friends is encouraged to come!

Summer Camp FAQ

What should I bring to camp?

Please bring a heart prepared to worship and learn more about the Lord Jesus Christ. We offer a suggested packing list.

In general, pack clothing of a simple nature that can get dirty and leave valuable at home so they are not lost or damaged. We strongly encourage you to label your childs belongings.

What is the camp dress code?

In order to ensure that clothing worn by both campers and staff will contribute to the spirit of camp in a positive way, the following guidelines are provided.

SHORTS

All shorts must be at least mid-thigh.  TEST: 1) Sit down, 2) Stand up, 3) Without touching the shorts (pulling them down). Are they mid-thigh?  Shorts or pants that are too tight need to be worn with a long shirt that covers. (YES, THIS MEANS THE GUYS TOO!)
No words written on the back (seat).

SHIRTS

DINING HALL AND CHAPEL

Shirts must cover the midriff at all times and must not hang low underneath the arm. Sleeveless shirts may be worn in the dining hall and chapel if they do not hang low below the arm or reveal undergarments or cleavage. No tank-tops in the chapel or dining hall. Immodestly tight shirts are also inappropriate.

ACTIVITIES

Girls: Tank-Tops may be worn over swim-wear during activities. Girls may not wear shirts that reveal cleavage or undergarments (i.e. NO low shirts, spaghetti strap shirts, tube tops).

Guys: Tank-tops may be worn during activities.

SHOES

Shoes are required in the dining hall and chapel.

SWIM SUITS & TOWELS

No towels in the chapel or dining hall.

Girls: One-piece suits and tankinis that cover the midsection at all times are permitted (revealing mesh cut outs and monokinis are not permitted). Suits should not reveal cleavage, should cover the mid-section, not be high cut or reveal the buttocks (i.e. “cheeky”). If your suit does not meet these requirements, bring along a pair of shorts and/or dark T-shirt to be worn over it at all times.

Guys: See rules for "shorts". The same rule applies.

DRESSES, SKIRTS, AND ROMPERS

The same requirements that have been mentioned above apply to this category as well.  Dresses and blouses must not show cleavage or midriff and all skirts/dresses/rompers must be approximately ¾ thigh-length while sitting.

PAJAMAS

Pajama clothing are not to be worn outside of sleeping areas.

What should we NOT pack?

The following items are not allowed at camp:

  • Tobacco/vaping products
  • Illicit drugs
  • Alcoholic beverages
  • Matches, lighters, fireworks
  • Weapons, ammunition
  • Electronic devices (e.g., phones, tablets, music players, etc.)
  • Gum
  • Things that may destroy camp property (e.g., spray paint, silly string, gum, etc.)
  • All money should be deposited into your account or locked in the office

How much spending money should I send?

Spending money is not required. However, most campers enjoy visiting Snak Shak. Snak Shak has sodas/drinks, snacks (candy bars, chips, snow cones, etc.), Camp Horizon gear, and more for purchase.

Snak Shak is open to Junior and Youth campers once a day and twice a day for Varsity campers. We suggest a budget of $15/week for Junior/Youth campers and $30/week for Varsity campers.

There is no limit imposed by Camp Horizon. When you check in, you can leave money for your camper to spend throughout the week. We'll keep it safe in our store and return any extra at the end of the week.

Are there discounts?

SIBLING DISCOUNT
The sibling discount is $25 per additional camper (after the first one is registered) in the same household.  The first camper does not get the discount.

This discount is applied automatically when campers are registered with the same user login.  If the automatic discount fails you can contact the office. (office@camphorizon.org)

What activites are offered at camp?

Junior and Youth camps sign up for four activities and Varisty camp signs up for three. Activites include but are not limited to archery, riflery, basketball, volleyball, swimming, canoeing, sailing, waterskiing, and handicrafts. Activities vary by week and staff availability but at least 8 activities are offered each week.

Do activities cost extra?

All activities except Tubing/Skiing ($60) are included.

The parent chooses this skiing or tubing as a PAID ACTIVITY during registration.  You can add this until seven days before the camp session begins.

What are Camp Horizon's COVID-19 Protocols?

Camp Horizon will continue to follow all federal, state and local regulations regarding COVID-19.

Masks and vaccines are not mandiated. If a camper or staff member feel more comfortable wearing a mask, they are more than welcome to.

We ask that if you answer "yes" to any of the questions below that you remain home.

  1. Have you had a positive COVID-19 test within the last 10 days and not completed your isolation period?
  2. Have you been exposed to someone with a positive COVID-19 test in the past 10 days and not completed your quarentine period?
  3. Have you experienced new or new or worsening symptoms of illness like:
    • Nasal drainage, congestion, or sneezing
    • Sore throat or cough
    • Diarrhea, Nausea, or Vomiting
    • Fever or Chills
    • Muscle aches, joint pain, or fatigue
    • Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath

Are their scholarships available (Camper Assistance)?

Yes! Camper assistance is on and first come, first serve basis. We generally approve camper assistance within two weeks of submission. You may request up to $150 of assistance. Those recieving more than $25 of assistance may not take skiing/tubing.

After you complete the online enrollment, go back to the DASHBOARD.

Choose the forms button > Camper Assistance Form (optional)

What time is drop off and pick up?

Drop-off is Sunday afternoon from 1:30-3:30 pm. Pick-up is 9-10am on Saturday. We are unable to process early arrivals. Please let us know at drop-off if you need to pick up your child early.
