FIRST QUARTER 2009 - SUMMARY REPORT
COMING EVENTS
SUMMER CAMP
SUMMER STAFF
This has been what may be the most expensive
quarter ever as far as unscheduled and emergency maintenance projects. The
pre-heater for the dishwasher died and had to be replaced. The 500 gallon
drinking water tank leaked and had to be replaced. The bus got two new tires
and then required a major repair. Both swimming pool pumps died and had
to be replaced. The camp truck a/c compressor locked up this weekend and
needs repair. The kitchen A/C compressor died and the repair is 2/3 of the
cost of a total replacement of the system. And those are just the major
events. The kitchen A/C and truck A/C will have to wait until we have the
funds available. Emergeny repairs for the first quarter exceeded the entire
annual budget for equipment maintenance.
Through it all, this has been a busy season. There have been events at
camp for all but two weekends since the Men's Retreat in January. The
Camp Family Fun Day was the best attended Annual Corporate Meeting in
years. Married Couples was full. Three of the four canoe trips were at
maximum capacity. We did our first public school outdoor education event
with a session on Intelligent Design included. We have a week-long camp
in progress now.
April and May are not as busy. There are groups that planned events and
have cancelled due to the economy. They could not get enough participants
to sign up. Pray with us that the Lord will fill some of these empty places.
One final new thing. It is now possible to pay for camp events online
using PayPal.
If the links (underlined titles) do not work for
you, the flyers can be downloaded from CampHorizon.org.
